Hey Mongeren,
I'm partial to APL, so I filtered this IN.   Hopefully someone will join me and carpool; I have 4 empty seats in the Civic Coupe, or 3 larger humans. ;-)
It's the Thursday AFTER our October gig.

Dear Toronto Perl Mongers,

I'm writing to let you know about a special computer event that York University
and the York University Computer Museum is organizing on Nov. 1, 2012, and which
could be of interest to
at least some of you. The APL at 50 will celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the most influential early programming languages--APL--with                                                                                     invited lectures, exhibits, movies, and demos, etc. Yes, I know, APL is not Perl but I'm sure that many of you did program in this exciting language invented by a Canadian. During the event, there will be an opportunity to meet computer pioneers and industry leaders. The attendance is free. Would
you be so kind and bring our event to the attention of the members of the Toronto Perl Mongers-- thanks! I have attached the event's announcement; more information can be found at

                                                                   http://www.cse.yorku.ca/museum/apl50/

                          Thanks and all the best

Zbigniew Stachniak
