Maeda-san,
My year here is over, and the time has come for me to leave Japan.
Thank you, and the rest of the Tokyo Perl Mongers for your friendship this
year. I only wish I could have attended more of the reikai.

However, I hope this will not be the last time I am here; I
especially hope that there will be a YAPC that I can come to in January!
Good luck with planning that; please keep me informed with what you decide,
(my email address from now on is simon @ brecon.co.uk, and I cannot yet
read Japanese mail there) and let me know if there's anything I can help
with.

I've also been thinking recently about the Perl Journal Japan
Project, an idea that TLUG started a couple of years ago. The idea was
to translate issues of TPJ into Japanese, and you can see the home page
for the project at http://www.twics.com/~tlug/projects/tpj-jp/
This never got anywhere, but at the time Tokyo.PM, perl-jp list or
Kansai.PM did not exist. Now I think there are a lot more Perl users in
Japan, and so it may now be possible to do this. If there is any interest
in this, I would be happy to be involved in translating, writing articles
or helping organise it. I also have contacts with Jon Orwant and the people
at Earthweb who run TPJ. I'm currently waiting for a mail back from the
publisher of TPJ to see whether or not it would be possible to use the TPJ
name.
Again, if anything happens, please let me know.

Finally, thanks once again for the happy time I have had this year,
and I hope to see you all again soon.

Simon
