My two were Toolkit and Smart::Comments. Smart::Comments in particular is quite awesome. It lets you turn some of your comments into debugging prints. You can make the functionality conditional upon the presence of an environment variable with "use Smart::Comments -ENV;". Then, with the environment variable set, you get lots of juicy debugging, but when you move your code to a production environment where the variable isn't set, the debugging "falls out" and doesn't even get compiled. Nifty. Check out the docs -- especially the part about one-liner progress bars. ++J From adeltac at valueclick.com Thu Jun 11 14:28:56 2009 From: adeltac at valueclick.com (Aran Deltac) Date: Thu, 11 Jun 2009 14:28:56 -0700 Subject: [Thousand-oaks-pm] Modern Perl Presentation In-Reply-To: <24CF2B9B9D2BCC4B8F6EA9528B63C8360D45CCB3@LA-EXCLUST01.corp.valueclick.com> References: <24CF2B9B9D2BCC4B8F6EA9528B63C8360D45CCB3@LA-EXCLUST01.corp.valueclick.com> Message-ID: <24CF2B9B9D2BCC4B8F6EA9528B63C8360D45CCC6@LA-EXCLUST01.corp.valueclick.com> Per request, here it is downloadable from our site: http://thousand-oaks-perl.org/modern-perl.pdf Aran From: thousand-oaks-pm-bounces+adeltac=valueclick.com at pm.org [mailto:thousand-oaks-pm-bounces+adeltac=valueclick.com at pm.org] On Behalf Of Aran Deltac Sent: Thursday, June 11, 2009 1:58 PM To: thousand-oaks-pm at pm.org Subject: [Thousand-oaks-pm] Modern Perl Presentation Hey all - my presentation from last night is online: http://www.slideshare.net/bluefeet/modern-perl Those of you that had module suggestions - please send them out to the list.
