I have a perl project that requires a client server with continuous two-way communications.

Specifically, the client is to initiate contact and communications with the server; then server needs to take over and asynchronously send data to the client on an ongoing basis.

So essentially the client becomes the receiver of an ongoing stream of data, almost as if it was the server.

But the client needs the ability to occasionally send messages to the server to change the nature of the data updates.

Does anyone have any example code for continuous two way communication over sockets in perl (or C/C++) that they would be willing to share? Any other suggestions?

Thanx,
