    of the 23rd of August, in preparation for my next cruise. I'm thinking of

    Is anyone interested, and possibly have a suggestion for which venue in
    that area would be best?

    Also, if anyone knows how to reach the Seattle Perl Group... the website
    looks dead and the mailing list is missing, so I'm guessing the group is
    also gone, but I'd love to hear otherwise.

I was at a lunch table with him at OSCON, but didn't realize it until he

Driest?  Perhaps you've never seen Randal "hold court", three sheets to the wind on the 3rd deck of a cruise ship, waxing eloquent on all things techie. 

I've noticed that Randal really likes two things -- alcohol and Perl -- and to watch him blend the two is a world class event.  I think I first saw it on Perl Whirl '02 aboard the MS Veendam departing out of Ft Lauderdale through the Caribbean.

I'm being completely serious.  And I'm being (playfully) respectful, too.

P.S.  It's oft quoted, but it really took me when I came across this quote "in the wild" as I was reading Kerouac's book (which title eludes me)...

As a Performance Specialist you will:

 - Develop test plans and strategy documents
 - Execute and Analyze Performance test cases in the following areas:

 - Have a good understanding of how to scale cloud based services and/or

 - Proven track record of consistently meeting commitments by defining a test
   strategy and test plan that may be based on ambiguous performance
