Jonathan Swartz (http://www.openswartz.com/) will be in town next week and has kindly offered to give a talk on CHI which he presented at YAPC. Due to scheduling this will be a bonus SPUG this month on 7/24 at Marchex in addition to tomorrows regularly scheduled time. 

As for tomorrows meeting, it's going to be another SPUG social at Tap House Grill from 5pm - 9?pmish. In case the front area is filled up or if a better area opens up that is more conducive to conversation, let one of the greeters know you're with the SPUG or Seattle Perl group and they will get you going in the right direction.

Are we still on for the technical meeting tonight at 6:30? I haven't seen
any discussion since this message last week.... Since getting Downtown in
the early evening requires a certain amount of forethought for those of us
in the suburbs, it'd be helpful to know for sure. :)

41 bus to Downtown currently stuck in Southbound I-5 mess. Whom/what number
should I call when I finally make it to 520 Pike lobby? O:-)

At least I'm not having to deal with the stress-inducing nightmare of
*driving* in this myself....

Were you able to reach anyone? This meeting and the 7/17 meeting was done ad hoc and planned last minute (apologies to anyone that had wanted to give a talk last week? got any plans for August?)

We'll plan better in advance and improve on communication before the next meeting.

Yeah... and I turned out to be not-particularly-late, either.  Called at
6:37 and was upstairs before he actually started the presentation itself. :)

Great talk.  Deserved a better turnout than we had - but as meetings go, it
was competing with an untenable (thanks to Obama's staff choosing to
disrupt ALL of the heart of Seattle at the peak of rush hour over
inconveniencing Mercer Island for what would have been less time) traffic
situation and a Ms home game against the Yankees.  Confession: I saw a
group of people leave the Tap House at like 6:34 and head southwest on Pike
and thought for a little while they were headed to the meeting, not the
game.... :D

To be fair, if your sighting had been a bit earlier, it would have
been folks heading to the meeting.

I agree, it was a really good talk, and CHI looks genuinely useful.
