For what it's worth, if you go up to 5.12 then you're also buying into our newly found enthusiasm for ensure that patch releases in 5.12.x are purely only bug or documentation fixes. You're newly only supposed to get new features if you actually then upgrade to 5.${NEXT}. That was never true for any earlier perl. So this is a case of perl attempting to become even more careful about being backwards compatible (while freeing up our 5.${NEXT} to move at a faster rate, possibly). Other reasonable recommendations: Within 1-2 blocks of E&C: Rock Bottom: it's about equivalent The Taphouse: seats fewer, *many* beers on tap At the Pike Place Market: Pike Place Brewery: a little less nearby at Pike Place Market, seats fewer and is often loud, excellent beer on tap White Horse: doesn't open til 6PM, in Post Alley next to the market Kell's: in Post Alley next to the market I'd personally vote for going to: Rock Bottom (because it is closest but not actually the same) or Kell's. Often people meet as early as 5pm so White Horse while nice, isn't exactly right. If we go to Kell's, that makes it super-convenient to also go for flipping awesome espresso at Seattle Coffee Works (across the street from the Pike Place Market). In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: I'll add my 2 cents... I'm a big fan of Von's RoastHouse at 619 Pine, about a block from Marchex so it's not much more of a walk than usual. They have nearly 1000 different spirits, a large selection of beers, it's always happy hour with the special changing hourly each time they spin the big drink wheel, and a full menu of food. Aside from the crowded bar area they have a backroom full of seating that's available as well as a side room closer to the bar area that's usually available which is nice because it's just far enough from the bar that you can actually carry on a conversation. If I don't get to have my way then I'd vote for Pike Place Brewery as my safety. As Josh said it can be loud and seating is difficult when they are busy but I'm making the naive assumption that Tuesday usually are not too terrible. I like I'd like to hear more about how exactly to look at whether any of the Strongtalk JIT stuff can be re-used for now or what. I think we need to demo some Seaside to SPUG.
