I believed the spamd man-page when it told me that the default
number of children for spamd was 5, but recently discovered that
the line in my /etc/init.d/postfix that started spamd was
actually requesting 20! (I guess something in the upgrade to 3.0
slipped that into the file when I wasn't looking.) So I've
changed that command to only allow 2 simultaneous children (spamd -m 2),
and my performance is *much* better now.

So, nevermind! 8-}
