How did you make the Makefies
  by hand
  Makefile.PL containing a "use ExtUtils::MakeMaker;"
  Makefile.PL containing a "use CPAN::MakeMaker;"

Seems to me that Schwern was trying to eliminate ExtUtils::MakeMaker,
but I'm not sure if I remember that his preference was CPAN::MakeMaker
or something else. 

Anyone remember?
