SPUG: A morality tale of Perl versus Python

Gimme a break. Yeah, I really want a programming language that uses
indentation to enclose blocks. I'm going to do my next project in logo or
some other kiddie language like python.

Betcha I can write unmaintainable code in python. And I can write
maintainable perl. I can even write *Literate* Perl (pod is similar to
cweb).

I'm sick and tired of people complaining that perl can be unmaintainable.
If I stick a screwdriver in my eye, it won't feel very good. That doesn't
mean that we should cripple the screwdriver to ensure that it won't hurt my
eye. This is the same reason that I dislike "object only" languages like
Java (what if I just want to write a quick hack, or one-liner?).
