I'm just another Perl hacker from Vienna.pm, Austria ( and Bicycle.pm !) I'll be spending 3 weeks (from 29th Sep to 20th Oct) somewhere in Sunnyvale, taking part in some Silicon Valley exchange program together with validad.com If you've ever been to a YAPC::Europe, we've most likely met there, if not, you can read about me here: http://domm.plix.at I'd love to meet up with you, either for a plain old Social meeting, or even a Technical meeting (I could give a talk on topics like OX, Bread::Board, ZeroMQ, ..) Additionally, I'm looking for a place to stay, and while there are plenty of options via Airbnb etc, I thought I'd just ask here if anybody has a spare room near the Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale (where we'll be working), because I'd rather stay at a fellow Perl hacker. Anyways, looking forward to meet a few of you, Greetings, domm PS: I've crossposted this to the SV.pm list, not sure how big the overlap of your members is... -- #!/usr/bin/perl http://domm.plix.at for(ref bless{},just'another'perl'hacker){s-:+-$"-g&&print$_.$/} From dean at fragfest.com.au Mon Sep 15 21:11:10 2014 From: dean at fragfest.com.au (Dean Hamstead) Date: Tue, 16 Sep 2014 14:11:10 +1000 Subject: [sf-perl] Thanks! Message-ID: Hi All I just wanted to drop a quick note in thanks of your hospitality, especially for VM bringing all who attended together at short notice. It was great to meet everyone (albeit, the small but merry turn out), could hardly have asked for better company on such a nice evening. Perhaps I will be over there soon as a more permanent resident? Either way I will continue lurking on this list, as the perl value is quite good. Take care all! Message-ID: <5421E745.4040703@vmbrasseur.com> I'm sad to announce that I'm stepping down as organizer of San Francisco Perl Mongers. This is one of those breakups that most definitely falls into the "it's not you, it's me" camps. You're the ones staying in the Bay Area. I'm the one moving to Portland. Apologies, but I received an offer I could not refuse. For the next few months our beloved Fred Moyer will once again be picking up the scepter of leadership to keep everything running smoothly. BUT! If you're interested in taking a more active role in SF.pm we'd love to speak to you about helping out with organizing! Our September event was going to be Tomas Doran (@bobtfish) presenting on dockersh, but $because->{"reasons"} that talk will no longer be happening. Instead, I'm about to post a social event where people can gather to chat with Tomas. It will be my final event with SF.pm, so I guess you can call this my farewell event. Look for that meetup announcement later this afternoon and do come join us! It's been a great year and a half or so, gang. Thank you for being the great group that you are. --V From domm at cpan.org Tue Sep 23 22:56:17 2014 From: domm at cpan.org (Thomas Klausner) Date: Wed, 24 Sep 2014 07:56:17 +0200 Subject: [sf-perl] Emergency Meeting in October? Message-ID: <20140924055617.GQ24854@plix.at> Hi! I'm in Sunnyvale from 30th Sept to 20th Oct [0], and as far as I understood it your regular meeting is in the last week of Oct (when I'm already back in Austria). So, would anybody care for an emergency social meeting (if you do such thing)? I'm also up to giving a presentation (probably the same as in SV.pm [1], but just hanging around with a few locals [2], talking Perl and other stuff is also fine for me. I guess any day would due (except [1], but I'll have to be able to get back to Sunnyvale by Caltrain (I don't have a car [3]) afterwards. Keep an eye on the list, word should go out soon... I've seen the Sept 30th meeting on meetup, but I'm not sure I'll be able to make it (as I've just arrived on the 29th and may be a bit exhausted from travelling). On the other hand it's always nice to meet Tomas Doran! > If you can't make that one, something else can probably be worked out. Cool!
