capturing X Windows application in pTk

Is it possible to capture the display of an X Windows
application in a Perl Tk window?  For instance, I'd like to be
able to embed an emacs session in a Perl Tk application and
have the emacs display (in X Windows mode) be captured in a
Perl Tk window.  Maybe only a window manager can do this?
