of what SVG is. So, here's a quick overview.<br>

SVG is an XML-based 2D vector graphics format. It supports scripting<br>
(through ecmascript) and declarative animation (through SMIL). It also<br>
supports somewhat advanced filtering features which can produce some<br>
really spectacular effects.<br>
<br>
It is currently supported natively in Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and the<br>
Webkit-based browsers. There are plugins for IE. The currently plugins<br>
have not been updated for a while, but new ones are on the horizon.<br>
<br>
SVG is currently used quite a bit in the GIS and cartography fields.<br>
It is also getting strong support in the mobile phone area. KDE also<br>
uses SVG extensively in it's newer versions.<br>
<br>

site maintained by the SVG Interest Group.<br>

There's an SVG developers group on Yahoo, which serves as a gathering<br>
place for people developing with SVG.<br>

There's an Apache project, Batik. It is a java library for working with<br>
SVG. There are also a few libraries on CPAN.<br>
<br>
I hope that gives a bit more background and generates a bit more<br>
interest.<br>
