Message-ID: Hello core group! Is there anyone who would like to volunteer to coordinate a Raleigh.pm meeting for January 2011? We are going to be very busy for the next several weeks and may or may not be able to attend a meeting in January. I can handle updating the website and sending out the announcement email once a speaker and/or topic are set. Let me know if you've got a topic you'd like to present on or lead a discussion about. Thanks, --bradoaks From plarson14 at hotmail.com Wed Jan 5 13:37:47 2011 From: plarson14 at hotmail.com (Paul Larson) Date: Wed, 5 Jan 2011 16:37:47 -0500 Subject: [Raleigh-talk] Fwd: Perl Developer In-Reply-To: References: <023401cb958e$6db64eb0$4922ec10$@net>, Message-ID: Hey Trevor, how are things at WebAssign? That is amazing you guys are still growing. Are you still on Centennial Campus? I am enjoying my new job. I have learned an enormous amount in the past year. I am still doing about 25% Perl, but 75% C#/ASP.net and lots of Oracle PL/SQL. We are using Apache::ASP for our Perl application. Works well with mod_perl. On every page it has a Session, Response, Request, and Server object, which makes maintaining state really easy. C# is impressive, it has this feature called LINQ, which is a universal query language which allows you to use the same query language for querying databases, XML files, objects, and text files. LINQ is similar to SQL but works on more than just database tables. Well, say hi to the guys at WebAssign.
