Gabor Szabo publishes a free, short, weekly, high-quality Perl newsleter.
Go to PerlWeekly.com to sign up for it.

Damian Conway weighed in on Perl's new features, best practices and future
during a ten minute interview. Go to
http://radar.oreilly.com/2012/08/damian-conway-perl.html to see it.

Comment from me: if you're using new Perl 5 releases so you can use
improvements borrowed from Perl 6 you may want to try Perl 6.
Perl 6 was designed from the ground up but still "feels like" Perl 5.
It is experimental and not ready for production code. See Rakudo.org
for more information on Perl 6. Get a "Rakudo Star" release if you
want to start using it.
