But that's IMHO, of course ;-) Everyone's been silent, and we're outa time, so here's the situation. I couldn't find a listing at qwestdex.com, ColoradoCuisine.com, or ColoradoSprings.com for any Nepalese restaurants. Since I can't confirm the address, let's meet at Indian Palate this month. I'd definitely like to try Nepalese another time, though. I've got the baby today, and he's been a bit fussy, so I'm writing this in snippits. Please let me know if I miss something. OK, here's the details. I am hosting a mongers social on Sunday, October 1st. It is planned as an outdoor event (ok so the subject BBQ social probably gave that away), so let's hope the weathers good! ;-} We live in a house on the same property as the horse farm where my wife works (no, we don't own it). It's called Rising Star Equestrian Center (http://www.risingstareqctr.com), and sits on 15 acres, with a pond, paddocks, etc. This is a potluck event,. I will provide grill and charcoal, a case or two of beer, a Frisbee, and some paper plates and plastic utensils (thanks BJ's!). Uri submitted a suggestion for low maintenance potluck organization that seems like a fine guideline. "one idea we use is to have people bring dishes from a category based on the initial of their last name: A-E appetizers F-J side dishes K-N salads/veggies O-S main dishes T-Z desserts" For those ride sharing or making the long trek by public transportation (see below), or for anyone who would prefer, I will gladly pick up grillables from my local grocer for reimbursement. Please feel free to arrive anytime after noon. You can arrive before then and wander around, but I'll probably ignore you ;-}. I plan on lighting the grill at around 2pm, and again at around 6ish for those who can't come until later (or who are hungry again). We have about an acre of lawn in front of the house to play in. There are a few big trees for shade, and you are welcome to wander around the property. The pond is at the opposite side of the property. Dogs are welcome, but are not allowed in the barn. An 8'x8' kennel and a medium weight, 50' dog run are available to use as well (for the _dogs_). I'll have a couple of tables and I think I can get about 12-15 patio chairs. Most of the land is taken up by barn and paddocks. For those who are interested, feel free to check out the barn - it's home to about 35 horses, has an indoor ring, grooming area, and all that fun stuff. Most of the horses are privately owned, and they are all used for equestrian sports. So please don't tease, feed or pet them without the permission of their owner or an employee of the barn. Boilerplate: Perl Mongers BBQ social - Sunday, October 1st, 2000. 12 noon - till' Hosted by Sean & Kathryn Quinlan at 145 Summer St. Medway, MA 02053 508-533-0582 or 508-783-0681 Outrageously long mapquest link: http://www.mapquest.com/cgi-bin/ia_find?link=btwn/twn-map_results&zoom_level =7&uid=ucdar0oaq1g4n5se:r55yyx5y7&SNVData=3mad3-5.fy%28wangrb_%29z25qa1%3bah 7-%3durs%2b%15%10HTDC%2bEJ%28HJQN%13%18%3aF%13%3d6a2da_l9r8_F%15%2851uzgl%3a _a9wrxh%3aa%3bwh%7c2 We are located on Rt. 126, about halfway between Rte. 16 and Rte. 109. There is a sign for Rising Star Equestrian Center by the driveway. The house is just up the driveway on the left (white). Please park in the main parking lot just past the house. Directions: You can get to our house by I495, Rte. 16 or Rte. 109 (or Rte. 126 if you happen to live a little closer). Which is faster will depend on where you are coming from. Both Rte. 16 and Rte. 109 cross I95/Rte. 128, so if you are close to I95, look at a map and see which of those are closer to you. From downtown Boston, take the pike out. You can either take it all the way to 495 (head south on 495) or take the Rte. 30/Weston(?) exit and cut over to Rte. 16 in Wellesley(sp?). 495 is the least complicated path, but takes a little longer. It usually takes me about 40-45m to get home from BU when traffic is light. The I90 to I495 path take 10-15 minutes longer. If your are not sure which path is best for you, please feel free to email me for suggestions. Let me know where you will be coming from, and what your preference is for difficulty/speed ratio. >From 495 - take exit 19 (Milford/Medway Rte. 109 exit). Head north on Rte. 109 (left if heading South on 495). A couple miles up you come to the intersection of 109 and 126 - it's your first traffic light, and there is a large fire station. Take a left onto Rte. 126 (Summer St.). Our house is a little over a mile down on the left. Look for a large white house set a ways back from the road with a stone wall along the road. >From 109 South - After passing through 'downtown' Medway, you will come to a set of lights, with a church on your right. Be careful here, as Rte. 109 actually forks of to the right - follow the signs. About a half mile further you come to the intersection of Rte. 109 and Rte. 126. There is a traffic light, and a large fire station. Take a right onto Rte. 126 (Summer St.). Our house is a little over a mile down on the left. Look for a large white house set a ways back from the road with a stone wall along the road. >From Rte. 16 - Rte. 16 and Rte. 126 merge in Holliston by a Bertucci's. You will stay on 16/126 almost all the way through Hollison. At the top of a rise, Rte. 126 will turn left and 16 will continue forward. Take a left and stay on Rte. 126, which is Summer St. after the turn. We are about a mile and a half down on the right. A couple hundred yards after entering Medway, watch for a guardrail on the right side, with paddocks on the other side of the trees. Our driveway is next. Commuter rail - The last stop on the Franklin line is Forge Park. This station is just off I495, and about 12m from our house. See http://www.mbta.com/schedmaps/commuter-rail/schedules/franklin/frankstsu.cfm for the schedule. If anyone takes the commuter line out, please call 508-783-0681 when you are sure which train you will be on, and a pickup will be arranged. I hope to see you Sunday! Sean P. The survey information will assist in developing the structure of an upcoming O'Reilly Conference: Peer to Peer (P2P). Take the survey, and you will be entered to win 10 books of your choice. For those of you who aren't familiar with peer to peer, take a look at this article by Andy Oram: http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/linux/2000/09/22/p2psummit.html to participate in the survey go to: http://www.oreilly.com/news/p2p_survey.html The Peer to Peer Conference will take place at the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, February 14 to 16. Early next year we are also publishing "Peer-to-Peer: The Disruptive Potential of Collaborative Networking". We'd be grateful if you'd fill in the survey and let others know about its existence. We feel that an important new technological trend is building but we don't have a handle on its shape or who's interested in it. As you know, we at O'Reilly were at the forefront of the commercialization of the Internet, the early development of the Web, and have been a major force behind the growth of Open Source. Tim O'Reilly, our founder and CEO, strongly believes that Peer-to-Peer constitutes another such groundbreaking force for change. The information in the survey is strictly for our internal analysis. Thanks for your support. :) Denise
