Senior Perl Developer/Object-Oriented Programmer

High-volume ecommerce environment

The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, ever changing,

able to understand the full breadth of how the company works together. 
Individual must be a creative thinker, confident and able to express 
ideas in a clear, well thought out manner. Ability to multi-task and 
prioritize deadlines is a must. Teamwork, solid written and oral 
communication skills, and the ability to think on your feet are 
expected. Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have strong 
multi-tasking abilities. Above all else, you must, at your core, be a 
problem-solver, a sleuth, and incurably inquisitive. We are looking for 
someone that has a passion for software development and can pick-up 
software languages quickly.


Responsibilities:

Understand and contribute to a large existing codebase, including new 
features, refactoring, and debugging
Identify and solve technical problems
Implement complex requirements and work with a deep dependency chain
Contribute to the design and architecture of our code
Plan and prioritize work for large projects into phased deliverables


Qualifications:

Team player
5 years software engineering experience
Experience in writing software that is scalable and easily supportable.
Advanced skills in one or more of the following languages: Perl, Java, 
javascript, C++, C#, Adobe Flex PERL IS HIGHLY PREFERRED because coding 
for these projects will use perl/mod_perl.
Experience building enterprise-wide web applications
Experience with front-end and server-side web development is highly 
desirable.
Can communicate and collaborate effectively with both technical and 
non-technical colleagues
Learns new languages, skills, and technologies quickly, with minimal 
guidance
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Comfortable using revision control (SVN, CVS)
Familiar with object-oriented design
Familiar with web standards and protocols - HTML, Cookies, HTTP, etc
Desirable Experience/Skills: mod_perl, MySQL, Oracle, Linux, Template 
Toolkit, Apache
International web development
Undergraduate degree in computer science or related experience.
