Principle Software Developer  (S07-6006-03)


Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations
We are looking for software developers to participate in all phases of development of large-scale solutions based on the CoMotion collaboration and visualization toolkit. The role includes the derivation and definition of high and low level system requirements, system design, implementation, and software and test support during the software and test phase of the project. Candidate is expected to work with and lead interdisciplinary teams to develop user-centric solutions.

Specific Knowledge
Qualifications: 
*	B.S. in Computer Science or a related field 
*	15+ years relevant work experience 
*	8+ years development experience with Java (preferred) or C++ 
*	7+ years of technical leadership experience 

General Skills: 
*	Demonstrated pattern of continuous learning 
*	Capable of working with little or no supervision 
*	Possesses excellent communication skills and be capable of presenting technical concepts in easy to understand terms to large audiences 
*	Appreciation for user-centric design

Staff Systems Engineer (S07-6432)


Job Description:

Participate in all phases of system design for the development of the Command Post of the Future (CPOF) system. Includes supporting the development of Operational Concept Models, derivation and definition of high and low level system requirements to support Battle Command systems, and providing software and test support during the software and test phase of the project. Provide support of Army C4ISR and Battle Command business pursuits as they apply to CPOF. Apply knowledge from a broad range of engineering disciplines to develop system solutions. Work with customers, users, and project teams to define, analyze and meet customer needs. Provide leadership and expertise in applying systematic processes to trade study, analysis, design, implementation, integration and test activities. This position involves some business development, project management and systems engineering skills. 

BS Degree in a technical field related to systems engineering + 7 years demonstrated results, or equivalent experience, advanced degree recommended.

- Understanding of service based architectures 

Must also be able to work with little to no supervision and be capable of leading small technical teams. Must also possess excellent communication skills and be capable of presenting technical concepts in easy to understand terms to large audiences.   Exposure to currently deployed Army systems is desired.  Knowledge of Future Combat Systems program is also a plus. Knowledge of C4ISR systems in general is also desired. 

Must be able to travel 20% of the time.

*	3-5+ years experience administrating software Configuration Management systems and programs.
*	Coordinates with development teams to execute software branching strategies.

*	Merges code lines and tracks feature and bug configurations across code lines. . 
*	Analyzes build and compile time software configuration issues. 
*	Serves as a point of contact for resolution of software configuration issues, mentors, trains, and helps resolve such issues. 
*	Resolves basic code conflicts and escalates where necessary. 
*	Performs basic and advanced system management, including user administration, security, performance, connectivity. 
*	May assist with programming, test automation, scripting, and web development. 
*	Assists with software defect tracking and build system administration and management. 

Specific Knowledge: 

*	Software development experience required, Java preferred. 
*	Perl required, plus solid experience with shell scripting (bash, .bat files). 
*	Experience administering Source Code Management and Defect Tracking Systems (Perforce and Bugzilla preferred). 
*	Detail-oriented. 
*	Windows experience required; Linux desirable. 
*	Demonstrated ability to learn. 
*	Familiarity with software development tools, bug tracking, databases, build tools.
*	Recognizes own limitations and seeks help when necessary and works well in a team environment and is able to function independently when needed.

*	Java software development (Java SDK preferred)

Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations

Develop big picture design direction for projects, including the vision for the user experience and component interaction, as well as documentation, training, and general communication - both internal and external. Research and integrate design strategies, product specifications, and user expectations into product capabilities. Develop and use standard user scenarios to test and validate designs. Provide design leadership to lower-level information designers. Interact with customers, vendors, and external development partners. Functional Responsibilities: Distill complex problems into their atomic elements, and then re-build them into meaningful and accessible software solutions. Easily move between developing independent designs and leading group brainstorming and problem solving exercises. Manage and exceed expectations. Communicate the aggregate vision of multiple projects at any time. Provide accessible, proactive, and communicative design support to multiple development efforts.

Specific Knowledge

* BA/BS degree required, MA/MS desired 
* 7-10 years experience 
* Comprehensive understanding of the principles of experience design, information architecture, and human-computer interaction. 
* Understanding of interaction design, visual interaction design and/or interaction requirements analysis 
* Macintosh or PC power-user 
* Expert skills in Photoshop, illustrator, freehand, and or Visio (director, flash, premiere/final cut - a plus) 
* Ability to use any commercial software package that is necessary to effectively communicate project designs, concepts and vision.
