We need talks! Haven't given one before? Give one now! It's easy,
it can be 15 minutes, it can be 5!
Let me know if you'd like to speak. Otherwise, you get me ranting
about something tha I find interesting. ;-)

FWIW I vote for 2 and 3. Especially if 'Dr. Weakref' is performed to
the tune of the Motley Crue 'Dr. Feelgood' :-)

Personally, I put my vote in for you doing a talk entitled:

Right! So! There was one vote for #2, one for #3, and Casey added a
second vote to #3, so #2 and #3 it is. Fun!

Subject: Geek Night 30: Thurs. 8/14 at Valhalla!
Geek Night 30 will be Thursday, August 14 at Valhalla. Note the
change in place and date!
We've had a fun hiatus here at Geek Night World Headquarters. We
sang songs, climbed mountains, cured diseases, and opened new
frontiers. We saved the manatees. We laughed, we cried, we became
better people.
Well, technically, we just wrote a lot of code and watched Daily Show
reruns. But all that other stuff is what's going on our resumes.
Now we're bored with the hiatus thing, but the Foundry,
unfortunately, is closed indefinitely. Therefore, we're pleased to
announce that Geek Night is moving to Valhalla.
Geek Night is a highly informal gathering of people in the Pittsburgh
high-tech industry. There's no dress code, and no cover charge.
Show up anytime after 5:00pm, and leave when you feel like it.
For August ONLY, Geek Night will be on the second Thursday, which is
August 14. Warn your fellow geeks! After this, we'll back on our
regular schedule of the first Thursday of every other month.
Valhalla is located in the Strip District at 1150 Smallman St.,
between the Convention Center and the History Center. It'll cost you
$3.00 to park for the evening in the big parking lot on Smallman St.,
but there's a limited amount of street parking available. We'll have
the entire upstairs. Smoking will be outside ONLY, but that includes
the comfy upstairs balcony.
If you plan on coming, please send email to rsvp@pghgeeks.org so we
can maintain a reasonably accurate headcount. Please mention how many
heads you're bringing, who told you about us, and your preferred
email address if you would like to be added to the Geek Night mailing
list.

There have been requests for two social meetings in particular:
A) Pittsburgh Pirates Game
B) Paintball
Both of these options will cost money. The Paintball will be more
expensive than the game.
Please tell me what you would like to do. If you don't like any of
these options and have a better idea, please tell me that too.
If I hear nothing, I'll assume the listed options are no good and
choose something else.

*Abstract*
Content management is a huge issue for organizations of all sizes,
addressed by products ranging from simple in-house solutions to
multi-million dollar commercial applications. Bricolage, an
enterprise-class open-source content management system powered by
Apache/mod_perl and PostgreSQL, aims to bridge the gap between these
extremes by offering an intuitive interface with powerful capabilities.
This presentation offers a practical introduction to Bricolage. As an
open-source product with commercial-class features such as document type
definition, granular access control, flexible templating, and
platform-independent content distribution, Bricolage enables a deep and
comprehensive organizational content management workflow. Following a
brief review of its history, we'll focus on the essentials needed to
start using Bricolage. The topics covered include:
* Foundation and Architecture (yes, it's 100% Perl).
* Document type analysis.
* Document type modeling.
* Templating Architecture and fundamentals.
* Mason template development.
* Document Editing.
Bricolage has gained wide adoption from organizations as diverse as the
World Health Organization, The Register, and Macworld Magazine. Its
power and ease of use led to its being named "Most Impressive" of 2002
by eWeek. Join Bricolage maintainer and lead developer David Wheeler to
learn what the fuss is about, and to discover how to put Bricolage to
work in your organization.
*About Bricolage*
Bricolage is a full-featured, enterprise-class content management
and publishing system. It offers a browser-based interface for
ease-of use, a full-fledged templating system with complete
HTML::Mason and HTML::Template support for flexibility, and many
other features. It operates in an Apache/mod_perl environment, and
uses the PostgreSQL RDBMS for its repository. A comprehensive,
actively-developed open source CMS, Bricolage has been hailed as
"Most Impressive" in 2002 by eWeek.
Learn more about Bricolage and download it from the Bricolage home page,
http://bricolage.cc/.
*About Pittsburgh Perl Mongers*
Pittsburgh.pm is just a small part of the Perl Mongers organization. We
hold informal gatherings from time to time to discuss Perl and other
interesting, geeky stuff. We encorage people from all walks of life to
attend. You don't have to be an expert and there will be no ritualistic
COBOL programming at any time (unless it relates to Perl).
For more information please see our website, http://pgh.pm.org.
