From ben at vinnerd.com Tue May 21 02:15:08 2013 From: ben at vinnerd.com (Ben Vinnerd) Date: Tue, 21 May 2013 10:15:08 +0100 Subject: [Perth-pm] Perl Jobs in WA Message-ID: Hi, My family and I are looking to emmigrate to WA within the next couple of years. I've been developing in Perl mainly for the past 13 years. I have a few questions, if you could help out that would be amazing :) There doesn't seem to be much demand for Perl in WA. Are all the jobs hidden away somewhere? What are the best job websites? I check on www.seek.com.au quite often, but when I search for "Perl" the results are mainly C#/.Net jobs, with the odd PHP or Java job. There seems to be some Perl jobs on the East coast. What are employer's/client's attitudes towards WFH (working from home) within Australia? Is it worth learning another language? (I'm guessing so). Are there many companies that would employ a Perl developer and train them up in another language (given the number of years experience I have as a developer in general). Cheers, Ben -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... So yeah possibly some jobs with them but they don't seem to be a " bookings.com" where they'd lap up every single Perl developer world-wide :) In general I don't recall seeing much from AU job sites for Perl searches in the past, it's been a while though. If PHP is a better alternative to C# / .Net for you then Moodle are often hiring and based here in Perth. As for telecommuting that's really going to depend on the company, and if they let you telecommute 100% of the time then they don't have to be based in Perth (which is the case for me) :) On Thu, May 23, 2013 at 1:08 AM, Ben Vinnerd wrote: > Hey Mark!
