Hi there,

We just opened registration and unveiled the program for this
year's OSCON, the annual gathering of the best and brightest in open
source. As a UG leader, there are few things we wanted to make sure you
knew about.

OSCON
July 16-20, 2012
Portland, OR

==================================
UG Discount: Save 20%
==================================
Registration for OSCON 2012 is now open. User group leaders (and members)
can save 20% on any OSCON pass by using discount code OS12UG when they
register at:
http://post.oreilly.com/rd/9z1zrjm7j11e6q8u2rqjffr25sgcjm6aeec729v6jv0

Remember, the Best Price ends May 3 so register early to get the best
savings.

==================================
Help Promote OSCON and Earn Free Passes
==================================
This year we're offering a rewards program to community groups who help
promote OSCON. We'll give you a unique 20% discount code to distribute
publicly and for every 5 people who use your code when they register,
you'll earn a free 3-Day Pass for a colleague or friend. The 5 uses of
your unique discount code must be for passes greater than $800 in value.
If you're interested, please email usergroups at oreilly.com and we'll send
you a unique code.

==================================
Now Accepting Applications for the Nonprofit Pavilion
==================================
If you know of a nonprofit organization using open source technologies to
support their cause, mission, or community goals, encourage them to apply
for a complimentary booth in the Nonprofit Pavilion at OSCON. In addition
to the booth space, we'll also provide a 3-Day Pass to OSCON and exposure
on oscon.com. Applications are due May 3.

==================================
Community Leadership Summit
==================================
The Community Leadership Summit is returning to Portland July 14-15
(the weekend before OSCON) at the Oregon Convention Center. This free
2-day event is your chance to join a diverse range range of community
leaders and managers to discuss, debate, and explore the many avenues of
building strong community in an open unconference setting, complimented
by additional structured presentations and networking. For more
information and to register:

==================================
Birds of a Feather Sessions (BoFs)
==================================
If you are coming to OSCON and looking for a smaller, more intimate setting
to chat with other people interested in the same topics as you, we encourage
you to lead a BoF. BoF sessions provide face-to-face exposure to those
interested in the same projects and concepts. BoFs can be organized for
individual projects or broader topics (best practices, open data, standards).
We provide the space and time, you provide the engaging topic.

==================================
Ignite OSCON
==================================
We'll once again be hosting Ignite OSCON on Monday evening, July 16. If you
had five minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides
and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Would you pitch a project?
Teach a hack? Get the wheels turning and start thinking about what you want
you'd present. We'll open up the formal call for Ignite talks later this
Spring.

==================================
Submit a Proposal for the Open Edu Track
==================================
We're looking for speakers to lead sessions in OSCON's Open Edu track. We want
to hear about the key projects, APIs, open standards, and technological
challenges in education technology as it accelerates the progress of U.S. public
schools. Proposals are due April 25.
