These modules provide two different interfaces to many kinds of data and files. Before I CPAN the suckers, I thought I'd see if you local folks could pound on them a bit and help me iron out the kinks. Some of the new stuff: it is now a heavy-weight XML contender since it uses XML::Twig as middleware; new parsers for HTML tables, passwd, weblogs, in addition to CSV, Fixed Length, etc., etc.; new non-DBI tied-hash interface with lots of goodies (multi-dimensional tied hashes using hashrefs as keys and ability to convert to/from any of the supported formats); an open API for anyone to write new format parsers ... Here's a brief sample (grabs an XML file from an FTP site, converts it to an HTML table and prints it to a browser), this is the entire code: use AnyData; print "Content-type: text/html\n\n", adConvert('XML','ftp://mysite.com/test.xml','HTMLtable'); Hard to use, isn't it? So, please read more about it and/or grab an advance for-your-eyes-only copy and help me look for bugs: http://www.vpservices.com/jeff/programs/AnyData/ (sorry, you'll have to shift-click to download it, the &)*)* host changed their default data type) Thanks! -- Jeff Zucker TIMTOWTDI From gabrielle.roth at xo.com Wed Feb 7 11:52:18 2001 From: gabrielle.roth at xo.com (Roth, Gabrielle) Date: Wed Aug 4 00:05:16 2004 Subject: meeting? The nature of the business is to acquire skills to match projects, so I have constant exposure to various software, as well as hardware & architectural issues etc., while having very short timeline in which to master these skills - I think the more coding knowledge I have, the easier that acquisition process will be (although I am running on theory here, which is akin to running on fumes!) I find this industry fascinating & have decided that the more computer knowledge I have under my belt, the more it can only help my career with the localization industry... besides the fact that learning this stuff is really FUN!!! I'm currently looking around for contract or consulting work. I've attached my resume, and it can also be found at http://chetlin.com/daniel/resume.text I don't work with recruiters, but aside from that restriction I'm interested in a job involving any of the technologies listed in the `skills' section below. Schwartz) Date: Wed Aug 4 00:05:16 2004 Subject: possible alternate meeting site for next wed's meeting Message-ID: I've got 16 free passes to Harvey's Comedy Club for this coming Wednesday nite. Harvey's is a live standup comedy club (the only all-comedy club in Portland). The timeline would work like follows: 6pm to 7pm - arrive and meet in Harvey's lounge, for social meeting 7pm to 8pm - sit at table together inside the club, more social meeting 8pm to 9:30pm - watch comedy! 9:30pm++ - hang out some more in the lounge, or wherever Those that didn't want to stay for the comedy could bail at 8pm. Harvey's is at 6th and Glisan downtown, at the north end of Fareless Square for the public transit folks. Would this work as an alternate social visit site? The only downside is that I'd need a pretty solid headcount by Tuesday, and nobody could join us after 7pm, because we have to go in together, and the table talk needs to be at a minimum during the actual show. Oh, the comedian (according to www.harveyscomedyclub.com) is: Hailing from West Texas, Jack Mayberry brings a myriad of life experience to his in-demand stand-up routine. From Marine Corps to drive-time personality in Houston for eight years, Jack found his calling in '84 as a stand-up comedian and in five years, had moved to Hollywood and was appearing regularly on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. When Jay Leno began hosting, Jack was asked to appear in a comedy sketch Jay's first week on the air as then-presidential candidate Ross Perot. Good thing, too, since he's been on The Tonight Show 18 times since! In addition to his "dead-on" caricature of Ross, his fans are also treated to his clean and funny comedy. Please join us for a great evening with Jack Mayberry! Yes, no? -- Randal L. Well, here's what I need first. 1) Is there enough people that want to do this that we should abort the nearly-definite prior-planned activity at WhoSongs? 2) Once we've confirmed #1, I'll want a *recount* (ack, I'm not in florida any more!) on Tuesday so I can call it in.
