Firstly, is anyone else coming to YAPC::Europe? If you have no idea what YAPC::Europe is, http://www.yapc.org will give you a complete run-down, but in essence it's a grass-roots perl conference, that emulates the two that have now been run in the US. Tickets are likely to be around £30 and it's likely to be held in early September. Secondly, I've finally managed to get access to the site again, and it might be an idea for us to do something about it. Has anyone got any ideas as to what we should put on it? Has anyone else written any modules we could showcase or something of that ilk? Finally, if we set a provisional date for a first meeting on Thursday the 13th of July, at about 8pm, in the Cock and Camel, who can make it? - Pete ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send an email to majordomo@hfb.pm.org, with the following in the body: unsubscribe oxford-pm-list From mlilley at eurobell.co.uk Sat Jul 1 11:24:23 2000 From: mlilley at eurobell.co.uk (michael lilley) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:08:30 2004 Subject: OxPM: Re: YAPC::Europe References: <20000701090043.81692.qmail@hotmail.com> Message-ID: <006c01bfe379$616944a0$a84218d4@uxledkvk> Wow - I'd forgotten about this list and rather unfortunately I'm moving from Oxford to London (to start my new job as a Perl hacker) the week before your suggested meeting, so I sadly shan't be able to attend. Its good to know that there are some other people in the area using Perl. YAPC sounds good. I'll probably go if the dates fit in with other things going on in September. I don't have any impressive modules but if anyone is interested in any scripts I have I'm happy to pass them on. I'm Win32 based and most of my stuff relates to NT Admin tasks (creating accounts and private shares for them, moving shares about, deleting accounts, listing the size of subfolders etc). We use Lotus Notes and I've written a few scripts that use OLE to access Notes (Martin Brech has sent me the work he did on a Notes Module but I haven't had time to look at this, if anyone wants to take this on I have the code). These scripts do things like setup location and connection documents, replicate directory structures in Notes Databases, forward folders as individual messages, and break up large attachments and email the pieces as seperate messages. A lot of the programs use Aldo Calpini's Win32::GUI interface (http://win32gui.perl.cmproductions.net/ has the list for this and links to downloads). Being Banbury based (and busy on Thursdays) I won't be able to make the 13th. Kev. I'm a rather modest "sysadmin who cruches lots of text files in odd ways" kind of Perl user. Feel free to look at my only publically released script (so far): rfcindex, a script that reads an "rfc-index.txt" file and produces a nicely HTML marked up index to an RFC repository (you can find the current version of this in the CPAN scripts area). > Finally, if we set a provisional date for a first meeting on Thursday the > 13th of July, at about 8pm, in the Cock and Camel, who can make it? Well... Try Big::Int if it exists, maybe Math::BigNum, prehaps Bit::Vector. Maybe even use cat /dev/urandom on linux. -Pete ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send an email to majordomo@hfb.pm.org, with the following in the body: unsubscribe oxford-pm-list From neil.hoggarth at physiol.ox.ac.uk Wed Jul 12 08:12:09 2000 From: neil.hoggarth at physiol.ox.ac.uk (Neil Hoggarth) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:08:30 2004 Subject: OxPM: Cock and Camel In-Reply-To: Message-ID: On Sat, 1 Jul 2000, Pete Sergeant wrote: > Finally, if we set a provisional date for a first meeting on > Thursday the 13th of July, at about 8pm, in the Cock and Camel, who > can make it? Couple of queries: 1) Is this list really as low traffic as it looks to me, or is something stuffed with my procmail filtering? Is there an archive I can check anywhere? 2) Is anyone else intending to turn up to this proposed meet tomorrow?
