Things are still slow around here (and Todd asked me to forward
this), so here's something you might be
interested in if you're up for a drive:

Announcing this month's LA.pm Tech Talk!
When: Thursday, June 22, 2006, 7-9 p.m.
Where: Ticketmaster's movie theater
8800 W. Sunset Blvd
West Hollywood, CA 90069

All the way from Australia (and on his way to YAPC), we present...

Adam Kennedy
presenting...

Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong

Short Description of talk...

Everybody makes mistakes. Most of the time they can be fixed.

But as you gain more experience and your projects get larger you enter
the dangerous and exotic world of large-scale design, with mistakes so
seductive you won't notice until years after you make them, and so
dangerous you can't risk fixing them even once you do.

In the style of "You Can't Get There From Here", this talk will cover
the theoretical basis of some of the worst design mistakes, and take you
on a tour of some the biggest mistakes in the Perl world (including mine).
Adam's Bio...

Adam Kennedy is one of Perl's "beautiful people", brilliant, outgoing,
stunningly handsome, yet still modest. And he loves being asked to write
his own bio.

Founder of Perl development and consulting company Phase N Australia, he
works on Perl scalability and the solution of novel, complex and
non-trivial problems for a variety of clients.

Preview of next month...

Set aside July 11th for the next big talk. Note: I'm still finalizing
the location. Randal's back in town to present...

Practicing Better Perl:
Randal Schwartz summarizes the 30 most important "Perl Best Practices"
from Professor Conway's book of the same name, and throws in his own
experiences as well.

As far as I know, you will _not_ be required to register with Evite if
this is a concern. This will help me to get a better idea of the head
count so PLEASE take the time to RVSP. The Evite invitation also has
more information regarding parking, etc.
