Adler" To: PM Group list We're opening up the White Camel process, and are now taking suggestions. As I said on use Perl: It's a new year and soon it will be time for the White Camel Awards to be given. The White Camels recognize the many people who give their time and effort to help Perl be not just a programming language, but a community. This year, the White Camel committee would like to enlarge the pool of possible winners, so we're opening a suggestion box. If there's someone you feel has helped keep Perl going as a community, send the name and your reasons to whitecamel-suggestions at perl.org Keep in mind that these are awards for community service, not code. http://www.perl.org/advocacy/white_camel/ gives the history and past winners of the awards. If you could pass that on, that would be great. thanks. dha -- David H. Adler - - http://www.panix.com/~dha/ It causes my eyes to do a double take. If my brain made noise it would be that *tick tick* *tick tick* *griiiIIIIiinnndd* that a hard drive makes when trying to work with a bad block. - Schwern -- Request pm.org Technical Support via support at pm.org pm_groups mailing list pm_groups at pm.org http://mail.pm.org/mailman/listinfo/pm_groups ------------------------------------------------------- From george at metaart.org Tue Apr 4 16:02:35 2006 From: george at metaart.org (George Woolley) Date: Tue, 4 Apr 2006 16:02:35 -0700 Subject: [oak perl] Fwd: News from O'Reilly--Maker Faire, April 22-23, San Mateo, CA Message-ID: <200604041602.35737.george@metaart.org> ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: News from O'Reilly--Maker Faire, April 22-23, San Mateo, CA Date: Tuesday 04 April 2006 15:37 From: Marsee Henon ... Message-ID: <55adb3190604281602u3802ae37j2b1272a0553a6c8e@mail.gmail.com> Hi Group-- Does anyone know of a local community college or similar that offers an introductory-level C or C++ programming class over the summer? My wife's 6th grade class is going to be competing in the BotBall (www.botball.org) next year, which involves programming robots in C, so she's interested in a very intro level class on either C or C++. The Berkeley Extension's offering look much too advanced for what she wants. Anyone have any recommendations? --Kester From skuo at psi.nsc.com Fri Apr 28 17:22:40 2006 From: skuo at psi.nsc.com (Steven Kuo) Date: Fri, 28 Apr 2006 17:22:40 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [oak perl] Area intro C or C++ programming classes? Anyone have any recommendations? De Anza College, in San Jose, has on-campus as well as web-and-video-based classes offered this summer for programming in C. But I do have a recommendation of a group that may be able to help. I suggest asking your question of John Muster Learning Architects. Their website is at http://www.muster.com Contact info for them can be found at http://www.muster.com/about/contact.html John Muster or someone else there may have a suggestion(s). George P.S. I also suggest asking Adrien Lamothe. Anyone have any recommendations? Peralta colleges has classes in Berkeley, Oakland, Alameda. I'm not sure which disciplines are taught where, but they have an online catalog at peralta.edu From PaulGerken at compuserve.com Sat Apr 29 12:54:23 2006 From: PaulGerken at compuserve.com (Paul Gerken) Date: Sat, 29 Apr 2006 12:54:23 -0700 Subject: [oak perl] intro C or C++ programming classes? In-Reply-To: Message-ID: Hello Kester, I have a Peralta catalog here at home, and registration is probably NOT open to 6th graders. Must be 18, or HS grad, or have GED, or concurrently in HighSchool with parental consent and Cnahcellor approval. The summer 2006 class schedule does NOT list any "C" classes. There are various Intro classes, Literacy classes, Word processing. Only course #005 Introduction to Computer Science comes close, "... algorithms,...basic skill in computer programming...", and probably is VBA, not "C". tkx, Paul
