I just picked up a copy of Code Complete 2ed., which I see as the 
definitive book on code construction. 

I'm real interested in how the ideas in the book interact with the ideas 
in Perl culture. I've started a mailing list to talk about it. I figured 
you guys were pretty receptive to the idea that maintainability
