I have no relationship with mindsource (a tech headhunter) other than
having had applied with them a year and a half ago.  I just thought
this looked like something that would be of interest to the opug

What:  Perl / SQL databases with Joseph Hall



Noted   author,   perl  wizard,  and Mindsource Engineer,  Joseph
Hall  will    demonstrate    techniques  for    managing   tables
space  in   relational   databases   and  special  routines   for
generating SQL code from perl libraries.

Joseph will also give away signed copies of his  book,  Effective
Perl  Programming"  Addison Wesley. (co-authored with Randall) He
may even talk about his plans for an  updated  version  of   this
widely read book.

We'll begin the session with an in-depth review  of  the  use  of
tables   and   data   dictionaries.    You'll  get a thorough and
quick treatment of DBI.PM.

Joseph will provide examples of creating  SQL  queries  manually,
and   using   an  automated   (and  more  civilized)  method   of
generating SQL with perl.

Finally, we'll wind up with a brief demo of a working database to
allow people to understand these concepts from a practical stand-
point.
