Manhattan opportunity from a fellow Monger

I am a fellow Monger from Cincinnati.pm. I got a referral for a job in
Manhattan. The referral actually came because the client wanted to use GNU
Emacs for some text processing work.

After talking to the client about the job, it became clear that Perl was the
right choice (of course! :), at least for the non-interactive parts of the
project. The client was still very interested in using GNU Emacs for the
interactive parts.

However, I was the third person he'd talked to that recommended Perl, so he
was beginning to be sold on it. The client is a developer who has a large
contract that he is trying to meet a deadline for. The first deadline was
in mid-September.

The project sounded very interesting to me, but he (a) needed someone to join
right away and (b) preferred someone local. I am busy with other projects at
the moment, and although I am considering a move to NYC in the next year or
so, I am not ready to move just yet.

There will be some need to do some advocacy to get Perl as the tool of
choice for the project, but the client did seem somewhat convinced. GNU
Emacs will still be in the picture, more than likely, though, too.

If this project sounds interesting to you, please email me and I will send
you the details on contacting the client.
