Just a reminder: the first Perl Mongers meeting will be tomorrow at 7:30pm in Withers 430. Shawn Page will be talking about how WebAssign uses Perl, so come on out. Also, if you're interested in giving a presentation or helping with Perl Mongers administration, let me know. See you tomorrow, -- Will Emigh wgemigh@unity.ncsu.edu From wgemigh at eos.ncsu.edu Tue Sep 24 23:38:32 2002 From: wgemigh at eos.ncsu.edu (wgemigh@eos.ncsu.edu) Date: Wed Aug 4 00:03:31 2004 Subject: APM: First month Message-ID: <200209250438.AAA00867@engr03ras.eos.ncsu.edu> Hey, all. Our meeting went really well, and the discussion of WebAssign was really interesting. If you missed Shawn's presentation, I've linked to his notes from the ncsu.pm.org page (under Past Presentations). NCSU has a relatively interesting (although not technical at all) press release on WebAssign at http://www.ncsu.edu/news/press_releases/02_09/230.htm. And, finally, there's going to be a WebAssign talk at the Lulu Tech Circus on the 27th, so go on by and check it out. There are two Perl challenges at http://ncsu.pm.org as well, and I've gotten some interesting submissions already. At the beginning of our next meeting, I'll go over the most interesting, which makes it a good way to show off your Perl skills. It should also give you Perl newcomers an idea of the sorts of tricks a more veteran programmer might use. The second Perl Mongers meeting of the semester will be Thursday, October 3rd from 7:30-9:00 in Withers 402A. As I mentioned, I'll go over some command-line programs, and then Brian Ferris will talk about CPAN (a little) and HTML::Mason (a lot). HTML::Mason is the most populat templating module out there, so if you're interested in using Perl as CGI, I recommend coming out. As always, if you have any suggestions for future topics, or would like to give a talk, let me know and I'll set everything up. See you guys October 3rd! -- Will
