I mentioned this the other night but here's the details:

Mark Spencer Hotel
www.markspencer.com

Just under 1 mile from the convention hotel, which is a 15-25 minute walk.
There is also free bus service in downtown Portland. From my
understanding, this'd get you within a few (6 or so) blocks of the
convention hotel. The busses run anywhere from every 15-30 minute, and
they start early (7:30) and end late (around 1:00 AM).

The hotel itself is just a few blocks from Powell's.

The hotel offers free wireless service, and they will rent wireless cards
at $10/day (but you're better off buying one, probably).

_All_ rooms have a fully equipped kitchen, and obviously a full bathroom.

The room types are:

Standard: Queen bed - $79 - 56 rooms

Junior Twin Suite: One bedroom with 2 twin beds, separate living room with
twin sofa sleeper - $99 - 5 rooms

Junior Queen Suite: One bedroom with one queen bed, separate living room
with queen or double sofa sleeper - $99 - 30 rooms

Executive Queen Suite: Same as above but with larger living room, suite >
500 square feet - $119 - 10 rooms

The rates are for 1-2 people. Additional people are $10/night. Rollaway
beds are available in some rooms for $10/night. Children under 12 are
free if they're in the same room as their parents.

Add an 11.5% hotel tax.

There is off-site overnight parking available for $10/night.

All rates include a continental breakfast and afternoon tea and cookies
(not that you'll likely be around for the latter).

There are no rooms being set aside for this group, so you simply book a
room yourself, telling them it's for the O'Reilly Open Source Convention.

To book a room, call 800-548-3934, 503-224-3293, or email
hospitality at markspencer.com

All rooms require a one night deposit (cash, check or plastic).
Cancellations must be done 24 hours in advance of arrival or they'll bill
for the whole thing.

Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with the hotel, or OSCON. I just thought
free wireless was cool, and figured other geeks might appreciate it, so I
called to ask about a group rate.

Please feel free to forward this info.
