If your website isn't hosted on the <a href="http://groups.pm.org" target="_blank">groups.pm.org</a> server, you can skip<br>
this email.<br>

On November 1st, 2009, we are planning to change the default charset<br>
that the webserver reports from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8.<br>
<br>
This will make it easier for those of you who require special<br>
characters to use them on the website. š(Sadly, Klingon characters are<br>
not yet included.)<br>
<br>
If your current site uses accented characters in ISO-8859-1 (aka "high<br>
bit" characters) you will need to convert them to UTF-8.<br>
<br>
The easiest way to do this is to run:<br>
šcp filename filename.orig<br>
šiconv -f ISO-8859-1 -t UTF-8 filename.orig > filename<br>
(across all your files)<br>
<br>
Remember, you need to do this on your local copy and re-upload them.<br>
<br>
If your site only uses HTML Entities (i.e. &eacute;) to represent<br>
accented characters, you don't need to change anything.<br>
<br>
I've taken a quick scan over the files, and most fall into that latter<br>
category.<br>
