However, my time is limited these days, so I don't have the time to really do it justice. So I wondered whether anyone here would be interested in taking it on. The site is a rock music magazine site, though is currently volunteer run. It has a lot of potential, and they are currently looking at making the whole site more commercial, so that they can pay staff to look after the site, and generally make money. As such, at the moment anyone wishing to get involved would have to appreciate there isn't any funding available to pay anyone to upgrade the site. It would be ideal for anyone just starting out and eager to get more experience with Catalyst. The site was written as a university project, and the style of Perl is not good. In fact it's downright messy and unnecessarily complicated. My evaluation was to redesign the site with a modern approach, using Catalyst & TT, as all the pages currently follow a very simple format, and should be a breeze to implement in a decent framework. If you're interested, please email me off-list, preferably with any example work that you have already done, particularly highlighting any Catalyst experience. I can then send you links so you can see the site as it stands. As ever, it will be held at the Wetherspoons pub, near the railway station (not the one in the snow dome), next door to Chiquitos: http://miltonkeynes.openguides.org/?J.D_Wetherspoon%2C_Central_Milton_Keynes Starting from 8pm, and going on till the last people stumble off home. Feel free to bring your laptop/Linux device along if you want a hand/to show off. Also, I'd like to introduce the concept of a pre-meeting thread, if you want to state what area/CPAN modules you're interested in, a perl news story thats caught your eye or a perl problem you're having so other members can research the topic so they come to the meeting fully informed. Posting in the pre-meeting thread is not compulsory it's just an idea I'd like to try out and get feedback on. This talk lasts in excess of one and a half hours and is given by a chap who also deals with the criminals, their lawyers, a judge and jury, So if anyone wants a look behind the news headlines of criminal cases this talk is for you. If you've ever deleted files you weren't supposed to or have a faulty hard drive that you want to recover data off of then this talk is also for you. The main problem is that my work commitments means that I can never guarantee that I will be able to make it to any particular meeting. I am probably not going to be able to travel to any other LUG's this year due to work commitments, but if you contact me in December, I should have a clearer idea of what I will be doing in 2010.
