Amazon.com = perl/Apache

Google.com = Linux clusters (and lots of perl, IIRC)

And locally, two organisations serving a significant part of the
education market make almost exclusive use of perl in their delivery of
their online services :-)

I would be happy to talk management-speak to your manager if s/he wants
to have a reference for perl used in the enterprise.
