Following is too much information about mediatemple.

Let me prefix my post to state I am a long time Open Source User Group Advocate here in Los Angeles.

Hi Jordan,

For members who have attended the event at mt, I agree. Let's look at a different scope. That of the first time attendee.

mt is such a Hard place to find. The lobby is hard to find. The meeting room is hard to find. Right?

You recall your first time there? Did you walk right in? Or have to ask? Or did you follow someone?

If a first time attendee is early or late, then the potential for not finding the room is quite high for mt.

To get new members to the mt facility, and let them know before they leave the office to drive there, they have detailed instructions...

Well, your first time attendee rate will go Up.

That's a good thing.

Putting detailed driving directions at the bottom of the announcement is a solid way to attract new members.

The needed information is right there, not forcing them to spend their valuable time going to find a map.

Now, no one is paid for running Perl Mongers. So, even though it's run by professionals, it's has no entry fee.

Professionally run groups recognize the value of attendee's time and make as easy as possible to attend.

Thus, having driving, parking, lobby and room step by step directions gives the Open Source Mongers a professional polish.

One man's opinion, and he's sticking too it.
The tl;dr version is park on the street ( Hayden at National).
8520 National Blvd., Culver City, California, 90232
>From the South via Interstate 405:
(Assuming South of LAX/Century Blvd. exit.)
Take the La Cienga Blvd. exit and enjoy the ride through the
La Cienga pass. Take a left on W. Jefferson and right on
National.
>From the North via Interstate 405:
Take the 10 East and exit Robertson. As
you exit the freeway get into the second lane
from the left and make a quick right followed
by a quick left on to Venice Blvd east. Take
a right on National and then a right on
Hayden to look for parking.
>From Downtown:
Take the 10 West and exit at Roberston.
Take a left on Robertson and the first
left on National folllowed by
a right on Hayden to look for parking.
Parking:
Public Parking is available on Hayden which intersects National.
Building:
The building is located on the Conjunctive Points complex which includes
Eric Owen Moss' conceptually challenging designs. Several of Mr. Mosses'
buildings (or portions thereof), are designated under Culver City's
Architecture as Art program.
Assuming you parked on Hayden, walk toward National, where you will see
the six story tower. Make a right on National and you will see a sandwich
board with the MT logo which marks the entrance to meeting room.
la.pm.org wants to especially thank Christina Veneroso and Media Temple for
their excellent hospitality, allowing us to meet in their facility, and
videotaping the presentations.
