See you in TWO DAYS! Details and RSVP: https://www.meetup.com/Los-Angeles-Perl/events/251197979/ Buddy Burden will be presenting a rough cut of his TPC talk on *Making Dates Easy)er in Perl*. Come join us for the last meetup at the current 401 Wilshire Zip Recruiter headquarters. Zip is moving offices next week. Talk #1: Making Dates Easy(er) in Perl We all know dates should be easy?not only in Perl, but everywhere?but somehow they aren?t. In this three-part talk, I?ll cover the following topics: 1. What makes dates hard? This will involve some science, some history, and some ranting. 2. What are some Perl solutions to the problems? In this case, ?solutions? == ?modules?: I?ll briefly discuss the most popular Perl date modules and what each are best at. 3. How can Date::Easy solve some of those problems? My own entry into the dating game is Date::Easy; it isn?t a silver bullet (because nothing is), but there?s a class of problems it tackles really well. (Since the talk isn?t really meant as a commercial for my module, this will actually be the briefest part of the talk.) peace, Andrew -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Just to give everyone fair warning: in this case "rough cut" means that the talk is just too damn long and I'm hoping you guys can offer me some advice on where to trim. :-) I'm about 20 ? 30 minutes over at the moment ... dates is a pretty broad topic! But I'm sure you all can help me out. In return, you will probably be the only folks in the world who ever get to hear the full version. ;-> Hope to see everyone there! -- Buddy From granny+lapm at gmail.com Wed May 30 15:25:32 2018 From: granny+lapm at gmail.com (Andrew Grangaard) Date: Wed, 30 May 2018 15:25:32 -0700 Subject: [LA.pm] LA Perl March Meetup on THURSDAY 3/31 In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: TOMORROW! Well spotted. Good to know someone reads these emails :) Zip is moving to 6th and Arizona, what was the RoC building and a google building before that. Less ocean view but more puppies.
