I was cleaning out some storage while I was on a quick visit down here, and I came across a couple of dozen copies of Perl Medic that I no longer have room for. I need to unload these before I leave on Thursday morning and my mobility is severely limited due to accompaniment of wife and baby daughter. I'm based in Monrovia on this trip. Is there anyone who can meet me in or near that area today or tomorrow who is willing to do something constructive with these books (e.g., giveaway to future LA.pm meetings)? I don't want to take on long term storage, but can pass them on in the next month or two, either in this area or in Santa Monica where I work. -- Eric Hammond -----Original Message----- From: Peter Scott Date: Tuesday, Jun 1, 2010 9:08 am Subject: [LA.pm] Lot of unused Perl books to give away To: losangeles-pm at mail.pm.org Hi folks. Perl medic is a good book, that's the one on fixing legacy systems, right? I treated it as a good primer on how to avoid letting your current system be one of the legacy systems. --Andrew Eric Hammond wrote: > Peter: > > I live next door in Arcadia and could pick them up Tue or Wed evening. Message-ID: <4C2A5F5E.3060205@rubiconproject.com> Hiya Mongers! See ya tomorrow, Wednesday June 30th for our next perl mongers meeting. All the details are at the la.pm.org[1] website. Presentations are still "to be determined." Please let me know if you are coming and if you'd like to present! Tentative presentation ideas: 1. CPAN author tools: care and maintenance of your cpan module, the rt queue, cpants. Scenario: "my module works great for me but fails install tests on 90% of hosts, how to fix that." I wish that was completely hypothetical. 2. Perl hadoop streaming examples follow-up. I didn't get to show much code for Hadoop::Streaming::Mapper last time around. I'd like to show snippets of the code I'm working on now for $work (cleansed appropriately) 3. mega extreme prorgramming to the max. "Pairing" with a room full of coders (instead of just a pair) trying to code onto the main display. Expanding App::PM::Announce[2] to our nefarious[3] purposes.
