Our traditional policy is that we generally don't allow headhunters, especially those not based in LA. From time to time (but not very often) local companies will post directly. -R From ask at develooper.com Fri Jul 16 15:53:59 2010 From: ask at develooper.com (=?iso-8859-1?Q?Ask_Bj=F8rn_Hansen?=) Date: Fri, 16 Jul 2010 15:53:59 -0700 Subject: [LA.pm] [job] perl/sql in LA In-Reply-To: <87iq4ffiyn.wl_rs@pobox.com> References: <87zkxrs74u.fsf@quad.sysarch.com> <87iq4ffiyn.wl_rs@pobox.com> Message-ID: On Jul 16, 2010, at 10:13, Robert Spier wrote: > Uri Guttman wrote: >> i just joined here so forgive this first post about a job. let me know >> about your job posting policy and i will adhere to that in the future. > > Our traditional policy is that we generally don't allow headhunters, > especially those not based in LA. Wouldn't the policy be something like: * Local employers can post for local jobs * Recruiters can post for local jobs if: * the posting is reasonable. * the frequency is reasonable. * they haven't stiffed any local companies for payment for services rendered So Uri, nope - your posting isn't welcome. - ask From agrangaard at rubiconproject.com Fri Jul 23 08:02:21 2010 From: agrangaard at rubiconproject.com (Andrew Grangaard) Date: Fri, 23 Jul 2010 08:02:21 -0700 Subject: [LA.pm] Next LA.pm: Wed July 28, 2010 Message-ID: <4C49AEFD.8020900@rubiconproject.com> Dearest Mongers, I'm looking forward to another lovely PM meeting this coming Wednesday, July 28th. Topics and speakers TBD (Aran Deltac has one slot, the other is waiting for [% you %].) What: Perl Mongers Date: Wednesday, July 28, 2010 Time: 7-9pm Where: Rubicon Project HQ - 1925 S. Bundy, LA, CA 90025 url: http://la.pm.org Website: not yet updated with this information, so you heard it here first. That'll be updated this weekend and I'll send out a follow-up email. Our June meeting was small but energetic, affected on both counts by being the week after YAPC. We had a live code-fix session hosted by Andrew Grangaard working on a freshly broken CPAN module: Dist::Zilla. This demonstrated many of the fine points of the CPAN community -- engaged users, integrated ticket tracking, engaged authors, source code browsing, cooperative spirit. Tags: git, dist::zilla, cpan, rt, XP. Dist::Zilla had a minor error affecting new users that was pushed out that morning. Live-on-stage, we cloned the git repo; found, analyzed and fixed the issue; created a rt.cpan.org ticket; mailed in a patch and updated the ticket. We also had to monkeypatch the version on my system, since dist::zilla uses dist::zilla to install. The module author (RJBS) replied and enthusiastically accepted our work and pushed out a new revision the next morning, crediting la.pm in the release notes.
