LPM: Module to aid conversion between sound files?

I'm looking for a way to convert .WAV files to .RM (Realmedia) files,
preferrably from a Perl script. Currently, we employ Cool Edit to do the
conversions. I'd like to build a tool that will convert batches of files
on the fly, from the command line. Does anyone know of a module or
command line tool that will convert between different sound files?
