From daniel at coder.com Tue Mar 14 08:15:13 2006 From: daniel at coder.com (Daniel R. Allen) Date: Tue, 14 Mar 2006 11:15:13 -0500 (EST) Subject: [kw-pm] Meeting This Thursday @ 7pm Message-ID: We'll be having our regular monthly meeting this Thursday, 7pm, at the usual location [1]. The topic is: Cryptographic Hash Functions. Elbie will be talking about hash functions, and attacks on hashing algorithms, looking at MD5 in particular. There will be a few proof of concept perl programs outlining various types of collision searches, and some talk about effeciency, finding meaningful collisions, and forging digital signatures. There are rumours of POE. If you'd like pizza, please RSVP if you please at: http://kw.pm.org/wiki/index.cgi?PizzaList [1] Usual location: U of W campus, Davis Centre Room 3323. See kw.pm.org for directions. From daniel at coder.com Tue Mar 21 08:35:52 2006 From: daniel at coder.com (Daniel R. I was talking with him last week and he offered to create one for YAPC::NA 2006! If you want to have a photo added to the mosaic, send it to josh-at-yapcchicago.org as soon as you can and I'll pass it along to Nathan. --- The code is quite simple, and I plan to start experimenting. There are obvious improvmements, selecting photos with similar dominant colours, and replacing colours based on the dominant colour of the replacement... I think kw.pm should be in the yapc photo, though. -Daniel From abez at abez.ca Tue Mar 21 09:39:10 2006 From: abez at abez.ca (abez) Date: Tue, 21 Mar 2006 12:39:10 -0500 (EST) Subject: [kw-pm] YAPC photo mosaic In-Reply-To: Message-ID: -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've done something like it before in Java with zooming, then I compiled the images into an animation. So one image would be mosaiced with the closest matching matching images and then you'd zoom in see the pixels at greater detail, eventually 1 pixel would replace the picture entirely and you could zoom into a new photo. abram On Tue, 21 Mar 2006, Daniel R. Anyone want to bring my copy of HOP to be signed? I'll make a desposit in your account at the KWPM beer bank. Is there any chance that Fulko will be recording this? I suspect that MJD might go either way on that one. Eric ---- original message : 2006-03-31 9:34am : Justin Wheeler ---- This is the weekend before my wedding, so I will be able to go.
