BBQ at my house: 83 Duchess Ave, Kitchener (near belmont village). I've arranged for a grill, and I'll supply hambergers, hotdogs, veggie dogs, and whatever else I can come up with. Bring Your Own Beer or Other Alcoholic Beverages. If you have grillables or things you'd particularly like to see, please bring 'em too. Spouses, dates, kids, etc. welcome. I just found out today that we're having house-guests this thursday through the weekend. :-> Sorry for the nearly-last-minute change of schedule. The website will be changed shortly as well. Hope people are having a good week, w/o A/C but with fridge and computer... The coder.com server was actually down for a bit, while I was gone (darn those old BIOSes that don't reboot properly!), so if you've emailed me recently you may have gotten temporary bounces. *sigh* Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing y'all *next* Thursday, and I hope you can make it then too. -Daniel http://coder.com/ - Prescient Code Solutions - (519) 575-3733 da@coder.com From dcarr at sdf.lonestar.org Wed Aug 20 18:55:51 2003 From: dcarr at sdf.lonestar.org (lloyd carr) Date: Mon Aug 2 21:31:32 2004 Subject: [kw-pm] BBQ- postponed 1 week In-Reply-To: Message-ID: I am fubarred, flummoxed and my plans are alas defenestrated ;-) On Tue, 19 Aug 2003, Daniel R. To bring this list back to a perl topic- just for a moment- :-) I just had the good fortune of coming back to a reasonably sized piece of code I wrote a year ago- and it still makes sense. It seems noticably clearer than some of the older code. My lesson: I've gotten better over time about abstracting things into modules and subroutines, which has a clear effect on readability. Nice to actually notice the difference, is all. -Daniel On Wed, 20 Aug 2003, lloyd carr wrote: > I am fubarred, flummoxed and my plans are alas defenestrated ;-) > > On Tue, 19 Aug 2003, Daniel R. This was information that the YAPC committee created during (or even after) the bids were prepared and submitted this year -- it's a very new procedure. Basically, there are a number of categories, each judge can give each bid points towards each category, and then they "find out" which bid came away with the best score. (Jeff didn't describe the exact comparison metric.) Thanks to everyone for their work on this bid. I've passed along congratulations to the bid team of Buffalo.pm.
