We are quiet inactive for a while. I think it is high time to make this group active. An active group means we can post *anything*, yes anything I meant. May be we can discuss on what all things we can not post in this group like politics. I don't want to use this group to be strictly 'official'. You can forward anything including jokes. Again, now we are only 6. We need to get more people reside/work around Kochi. Since there is No other groups in nearby cities, you can get Perl people come in and join. The major purpose of this group is to: 1. Make a group of people who talk same language "Perl" 2. Discuss or clarify on doubts/questions/Advises on any thing including Perl. 3. Discuss on anything that is NOT perl, like last day I got a question on how to wire money to SBI from USA. 4. Arrange weekly or monthly meetings. 5. Arrange training/seminars on Perl/related technologies fir college students 6. Maintain a website one Perl Mongers...... 7. Anything else we think appropriate to do.... 8. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, We can talk about job opportunities. But make sure your boss is not listening. Bosses can get more people interested :) Also can discuss on other opportunities. What do you think? I think I can get some more people to join us, mostly students :) -- Thanks & Regards Varghese Chacko ====================================== I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference ...Robert Frost From adarshtp at gmail.com Tue Oct 27 00:02:05 2009 From: adarshtp at gmail.com (Adarsh) Date: Tue, 27 Oct 2009 12:32:05 +0530 Subject: [Kochi-pm] Activating Kochi-pm.org In-Reply-To: <4AE68B04.2010104@cybersurfers.com> References: <4AE68B04.2010104@cybersurfers.com> Message-ID: <2f3bd0d60910270002g53fd98f3h48ea7afdc26fbdb0@mail.gmail.com> Hey Guys, I have few questions 1) Who all are there in this group? Atleast names. 2) Is perl good enough for large scale application where thousands of user hits are there, or is PHP better? 3) Most shared servers won't provide ssh access, so what to do in that case? More questions are coming once i get answers for above Happy Coding. -- Regards Adarsh adarshtp at gmail.com +91 9846735353 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Most of you know www.exchangerate.com. It is a site running on a p3 machine, 2G ram, Linux. It has some 10 unique visitors per second :) Also you can see hundreds of such sites out there. Do you need more success stories ? http://www.inteligo.pl/infosite/ is a bank running on mod_perl. mod_perl is just Perl itself with some special Apache configuration. I am glad to do apha testing when I am free. May be we can chat or mail or even meet as and when required to discuss on testing. I am going to invite Raja & Shibu. We are going to learn from each other. Also can post questions over group & get answered :) * This Perl group is open to all subjects including JavaScript or CSS or SQL or anything. Its a binding of programmers/admins to learn from each other. Many Perl programmers need to know Javascript. May be Linux, May be SQL may be anything. I do remember that I had to develop a VC++ application which interfacedwith a perl CGI :) I think I did 4 such micro mini pjts.* regards Varghese Chacko Adarsh wrote: > Thanks VC.
