ActiveState releases Visual Perl 1.0 for Visual Studio.NET Beta 2

It is our pleasure to announce the release of Visual Perl 1.0 for
Visual Studio.NET Beta 2.

With this release, Visual Perl offers a complete Perl software
development environment.

Visual Perl is available as a standalone product, or as part of
ASPN Perl.

The editor supports many advanced features, including:

- Configurable auto-indentation

- Redoing indentation on existing code (aka 'pretty-printing')

- Code folding

- Configurable syntax-based colorizing

- Incremental search, forward and reverse


Integration with the ActiveState Perl Dev Kit (PDK) has been greatly
improved, and includes the following:

- Specialized wizards generate boilerplate code for PerlCtrl and
  PerlSvc

- The Visual Studio Build command can be used to create PerlApp,
PerlCtrl, and PerlSvc components within the IDE

- Build configuration options are specified in the UI


Visual Perl provides a source-code control interface that works with
both CVS and Visual SourceSafe.


Visual Perl offers a powerful debugging experience,
including the following features:

- Graphical management of breakpoints

- Hovering over variables

- Drilling down into complex data structures

- Ability to evaluate arbitrary expressions in a "Watch" window
