Ammon,
I highly recommend that you pick up this book and read it twice. Learning Perl, Fourth Edition By Randal L. Schwartz, Tom Phoenix, brian d foy.

At the same time pick up Perl Pocket Reference, Fourth Edition By Johan Vromans. If you have any Perl book that has any of the following words in them, then (As a novice Perl user) I'd hide them away and never look at them again...

1. Dummies
2. Nutshell
3. Sam's

If you have any questions that these books can't answer, then feel free to ask them of us.

Thank you,
Kristofer Hoch

You might want to Google for "perl training houston" or similar. There are a
bunch of training companies that do training in Houston.
