Donderdag 21 januari is weer de 3e donderdag van de maand:
tijd voor een Perl Mongers bijeenkomst.

De Hands-on van November is me eigenlijk heel goed bevallen.
Vandaar het voorstel voor een nieuwe Hands-on: grafische weergaves en
visualisaties. Het presenteren van grafische schermpjes en het maken van
plaatjes die met andere programma's kunnen worden weergegeven.

Ik denk aan:
- Perl/Tk
- Cairo (vervanger van GD)
- GraphViz
- wxWidgets
- etc, etc

Ik stel voor zowel de installatie (welke modules zijn nodig, hoe krijg ik die
vanuit Debian (lenny/squeeze) geinstalleerd, evt. met apt-pinning) als het
gebruik (hoe ziet de Perl code er uit, wat is het resultaat).

Gezien de grafische eisen stel ik Warpnet als locatie voor. Iemand
beschikbaar?

Wat vinden jullie van het idee? Wie doet er mee? Wie heeft er toevoegingen?

I liked the november hands-on session very much. Hereby a new syggestion:
visualisations and graphical windows from Perl. That is: creating pictures in
Perl as well as creating graphical windows from Perl.
Consider how easy (?) it is to prersent/create something from java code.
Can Perl do the same with the same ease?

Some suggestions:
- Perl/Tk
- Cairo (GD replacement)
- GraphViz
- wxWidgets
- etc, etc

I suggest that we look at both the installation in Debian (lenny/squeeze):
which perl modules do i need, how should I install these, possibly using apt
pinning to do the trick as well as the Perl code used to create a menu,
picture or whatever. Suggestions welcome.

Given the graphical nature I suggest Warpnet as a location. Someone
available?
