[Edinburgh-pm] Converting Microsoft Word Special Characters

Just got a chance to take a look at this.

And whereas this is kinda cool, what I need is something where I can take a
string that may or may not have special characters in it, pass it to this
module/method/function, and have it return clean text (either non-special
characters, or the best HTML representation of it).

Any thoughts on that?
