I am using the " do EXPR" construct to load a file containing a few subroutines common to a few programs I've written. I've put the file to load in a directory ~/lib/ and use the -I command line flag(-I ~/lib/). I would have liked to put the file into one of the directories that is already in @INC, but only /usr/lib/perl/5.8.8 exists. I fear that in time with upgrades I will lose my file if I put in that directory. Oh wise Perl mongers, what is your advice ? -- Andrew From perl at minty.org Tue Oct 16 01:19:37 2007 From: perl at minty.org (Murray) Date: Tue, 16 Oct 2007 09:19:37 +0100 Subject: [Edinburgh-pm] @INC and do EXPR use In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <20071016081936.GY32102@minty.org> http://search.cpan.org/search?query=FindBin or setting the PERL5LIB environment variable. also "perldoc -f do" sayeth: Note that inclusion of library modules is better done with the "use" and "require" operators, which also do automatic error checking and raise an exception if there's a problem. I believe "use" is generally preferable over "require". Since I've now got "do" working properly working alongside @INC=$ENV{HOME}."/lib" line, I might leave it alone and get stuck into something else like "Perl/TK".
