It will be working in Perl using POE on embedded systems, like Raspberry PI and BeagleBone. It's in aviation, of all industries, so it's got that cool factor as well. The initial phases of the project are pure Perl, but later phases will involve some web development, and maybe even some Android/IOS app development, so knowledge of those technologies would help as well. It's one of those things that starts off with a pretty tight budget with some opportunity for more work at the back end, but it's still a paid engagement. It's the kind of thing that might be ideal for a good developer trying to learn Perl. I thought I'd ask here before going any wider because I have pretty high regard for this group. If you are interested, or know of someone who might be, contact me directly, and let's have a chat and see if there is a good fit. Well, not quite? The current number 1 on the list has HALF the contribs (kevinsawicki at ?11,430?). kentfredric doesn?t show up because of this second caveat: "Only first 1000 GitHub users according to the count of followers are taken. So, it seems all we need to do is have a few hundred people follow kentfredric (based on followers counts of others who did make the list) and the next time this report is generated, Kent, and thus Perl, will take over the number 1 slot ? and by a commanding margin (as it should be) ? and dethroning JavaScript. Currently, Perl is very poorly represented, with just a handful of our luminaries showing up (with the first not coming until #40). I?m not sure how important this report/page actually is, but, I figure, why not if it is this easy! kentnl has already quietly done the hard part by somehow managing to average over **60** GitHub contributions per day, every day, for at least the past 365 days. I have got 2,380 "years of contribs", which would be #82 and the 3rd highest perl dev in this funky list, but I'm also not there, because of 57 followers. Who else? Many I guess. #40 tokohirom 3411 years, 536 followers #68 audreyt 2625 years, 710 followers How should one trust this metric? Following means being spammed by every commit/contrib in your https://github.com/ timeline. I'm not sure if I want to follow kentfredric mass commits or if you should follow me. If you follow me you'll get bi-hourly all openssl and libressl changes, done via a cronjob of course. Lotta work, but not mine. It does not give you their individual commits; to get those you would need to subscribe to a particular repository.
