Oh and if "www" works it worked.

Works for me.

Suppose I ought to install mod_perl now.

apt-get install libapache2-mod-perl2
 machine mumbles....
Simon hints it should get onwith the "Y" key.
 machine mumbles some more...
/etc/init.d/apache2 force-reload
 Forcing reload of web server: Apache2.

I'm sure Matthew will want deeper voodoo... let me know offlist.
