[Detroit-pm] Getting website back in order...

I'd like to see our first priority getting an up to date (static if
necessary) page detailing the fact we're here and how to find us.

After this a wiki sounds fine but like Todd, I don't join on line
communities.

I don't think requiring people to join a social networking site to
participate is a good idea. I am a reluctant participant in Facebook and
will not be joining any other sites. One is more than enough! :P

I agree - a wiki/group site would be nice...

I was thinking it would be a good idea to still have our static website
for general information purposes and then link to a wiki/group site. Could
we use something as simple as Facebook or LinkedIn for this? Not sure how
everyone feels about using these sites - where FB is more social and LI is
more professional...

I looked into FB groups and created a Detroit Perl Mongers group - to see
what is possible:
Events
Simple discussion board
FB wall
Photo
videos
Post links

I am use some other groups in LinkedIn - but prefer the FB UI to the LI
UI...

Any other ideas/thoughts???

All,

I really think a wiki will provide the easiest way to get increased
participation. Here is one wiki service we could use for free:
http://pbwiki.com/personal.wiki.

Anyone know of other free wikis?

Hi all - I put in a request to get the website back under pm.org
management and they are working on it. They do not offer any scripting
possibilities for the site - just static content. This should be OK for
us since all we need up there is some meeting announcements,
presentations, links, code/scripts and any other useful stuff....

If anyone who has presented in the past has presentations in any format -
PPT, DOC, PDF, TEXT, etc... Please email them to me with the date (approx
if you forgot) and I will get them up on the site.

Moving forward - once the DNS is setup - if anyone wants to post anything
- just let me know and email me the content and I can push it up there
pretty easily. We have to use WebDAV to upload any files...

Please let me know if you have any ideas or questions - Thanks...
