Attention Perl programmers!
The Detroit Perl Mongers are being resurrected!

On All Hallows' Eve lightning struck the head of a brain-dead Perl
programmer (let's call him Chad.) Chad lurched forward, arms extended in
search of like minded spirits and came upon others who had become weak
while feasting on the blood and bodies of PHP coders. Once revived the
group conceived a plan and Detroit.pm was reborn! The rest of the story
will be written, starting at the first meeting of the reanimated Detroit
Perl Mongers.

What: Detroit Perl Mongers Meetup
When: November 14th. 6:30pm social; 7pm meeting starts
Where: Detroit.pm will be hosted at the facilities of ePrize, which is
easily reachable by most of Metro Detroit

       One ePrize Drive
       Pleasant Ridge, MI 48069

Who: Anyone interested in learning about Perl and sharing what you know.
You don't need to know Perl at all to attend. Each month we hope to have
something of interest for beginners as well as advanced Perl
programmers. Hopefully proponents of Perl's rival programming languages
will come and teach us a thing or two.

Agenda:

 * Intro/Welcome ( 15 minutes )

 * A Gentle Introduction to Perl Data Types (30 minutes - Chad Carr)
   Chad will do a thorough examination of perl data types from simple
scalars to hashes, and how references to these types are used to build
more complex data structures. You will even learn some basic perl
syntax along the way! Mostly for beginners, but in a treatment this
basic even seasoned professionals might hear something they didn't
already know.

 * POE (30 minutes - Todd Chapman)
   Todd will explain the basics of POE (portable multitasking and
networking framework for Perl). Basic concepts will be covered and an
explanation of how he's using it in his work.

 * Q&A (20 minutes)
Have Perl questions? Get them answered!

 * Administravia ( officers, next meeting; call for presenters )

Free food and drink will be provided by ePrize. Wireless Internet access
will be available.

RSVP: Please RSVP to todd.chapman at eprize.com if you plan to attend. We
would like to get a proper head count so we have seats and pizza for
everyone.
